Mochi Making by HANBEI Asakusa
Welcome to Mochi-Making HANBEI! To the World of Mochi
A mysterious mochi base has suddenly appeared in Asakusa, Tokyo — this is Mochi-Making HANBEI.
But don’t be fooled — it’s not just a traditional sweets shop.
Here, you are the one who makes the mochi.
Grab the heavy wooden mallet, shout out “Yoisho!” with everyone, and pound the mochi with rhythm and heart.
Pettan! Pettan! The beat is satisfying — and before you know it, you’re smiling.
People from all over the world, young and old, become one in this strange but beautiful moment of shared tradition.
Once you’re done pounding, taste your freshly made mochi with four classic toppings: kinako (roasted soybean flour), matcha, kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup), and grated daikon radish.
Want to relax after? Head up to our 2nd floor reserved seating and enjoy your mochi with a cup of matcha in peace.
Oh, and don’t forget the photos!Your Instagram feed just got an upgrade — a real taste of Japan.
Pound it. Eat it. Laugh out loud. This isn’t just sightseeing — it’s a hands-on, heartwarming memory.
Experience Japan through mochi!
