Notice: Revision of Gallery Fees and Exhibition Schedule

As of September 7, 2026, Hanbei Gallery has revised its gallery rental fees and exhibition schedule.　The new fees and schedule will apply to artists who submit applications on or after September 8, 2026.　For artists who applied on or before September 7, 2026, the fees and schedule in effect at the time of application will continue to apply.　Please see below for details of the new gallery fees and exhibition schedule.

Exhibition Info

  • Gallery Fee: ¥33,000 (tax included) / 3 days
  • The gallery is available for three days: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • Exhibition Days: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
  • Installation: Thursday, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Deinstallation: Sunday, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Opening Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Venue: Hanbei, 2F Gallery Space, Asakusa, Tokyo
  • Exhibition Format: Both solo and group exhibitions are welcome. We especially welcome group exhibitions featuring multiple artists.
  • Pre-screening: We conduct a brief review of the proposed exhibition content before accepting applications.

Hanbei Gallery Terms of Use

These Terms of Use set forth the conditions for the use of Hanbei Gallery (hereinafter referred to as the “Gallery”).
All users of the Gallery (hereinafter referred to as the “User”) must read and agree to these Terms before submitting an application.

  • Article 1 – Purpose of Use
  • The Gallery is provided as a space for the exhibition and presentation of artworks, including paintings, photography, calligraphy, crafts, sculptures, and other forms of artistic work.
  • The Gallery is intended primarily for the presentation of cultural and artistic activities and interaction with visitors. Sales of artworks and related items in connection with an exhibition are also permitted.
  • The Gallery may not be used for any of the following:
  • Activities or exhibitions that violate applicable laws or regulations.
  • Activities or exhibitions that are contrary to public order and morals, or that the Gallery considers inappropriate for the operation of the facility.
  • The use of hazardous materials, open flames, animals, items producing strong odors, or similar materials.
  • Activities that may cause significant inconvenience or disturbance to other users, visitors, neighboring residents, or others.
  • Activities that may compromise the safety of the building, facilities, equipment, or furnishings.
  • Exhibitions or activities that differ significantly from the content described at the time of application.
  • Article 2 – Exhibition Period and Hours
  • The standard exhibition period is three days: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • Exhibition hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
  • Installation shall take place on the Thursday before the exhibition, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Deinstallation shall take place on the final Sunday of the exhibition, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • The Gallery is responsible for opening and locking the premises.
  • Any use of the Gallery outside the designated hours, including installation and deinstallation, requires prior approval from the Gallery.
  • Article 3 – Gallery Fee and Payment
  • The Gallery fee is ¥33,000 (tax included) for the three-day exhibition period.
  • The User must pay the Gallery fee within one week of submitting the application.
  • If payment is not confirmed by the payment deadline, the application may be treated as canceled.
  • The reservation will be officially confirmed upon receipt of the Gallery fee.
  • Payment may be made by bank transfer, cash, or credit card.
  • Any bank transfer fees shall be borne by the User.
  • Article 4 – Cancellation Policy
  • The following cancellation fees apply:
  • 30 to 15 days before the exhibition: 50% of the Gallery fee.
  • 14 days before the exhibition through the day of the exhibition: 100% of the Gallery fee.
  • Any bank transfer fees incurred in connection with a refund shall be borne by the User.
  • Article 5 – Management of Artworks, Money, and Personal Belongings
  • The User is responsible for the management and security of all exhibited artworks, merchandise, money, personal belongings, valuables, and other items.
  • The Gallery shall not be liable for theft, loss, or damage, except in cases of intentional misconduct or gross negligence by the Gallery.
  • The User is responsible for the sale of artworks and merchandise and for managing all sales proceeds.
  • Article 6 – Exhibition Methods and Facilities
  • Nails, pins, and similar fixtures may not be used on certain sections of the Gallery walls.
  • The User must obtain prior approval before using Gallery equipment or furnishings.
  • If the User damages or soils any walls, floors, facilities, equipment, or furnishings, the Gallery may charge the User for the actual cost of repair, cleaning, or replacement.
  • The use of open flames, hazardous materials, or any other items deemed dangerous by the Gallery is prohibited.
  • At the end of the exhibition period, the User is responsible for removing all exhibited works and personal belongings and restoring the Gallery to its original condition.
  • The Gallery does not guarantee the storage or safekeeping of any artworks, merchandise, or belongings left behind after the designated deinstallation period unless prior arrangements have been made.
  • Article 7 – Sales and Commission
  • Exhibited artworks and related merchandise may be sold during the exhibition period.
  • In principle, the User is responsible for handling sales and managing sales proceeds.
  • The User shall pay the Gallery a commission equal to 20% of the tax-inclusive sales price of any artwork or merchandise sold during the exhibition period.
  • The sales commission shall be calculated and settled on the final day of the exhibition.
  • Article 8 – Exhibition Parties and Receptions
  • If the User wishes to hold a reception, social gathering, or similar event in connection with the exhibition, an application must be made to the Gallery in advance.
  • Available hours: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Venue fee: ¥11,000 (tax included).
  • Waste disposal fee: ¥2,200 (tax included).
  • Food and beverages may be brought into the Gallery.
  • All cleanup must be completed and the premises fully vacated by 8:00 p.m.
  • Excessive noise or any other behavior that may disturb neighboring residents, other users, or visitors is prohibited.
  • Article 9 – Artist Attendance
  • The User is not required to be present at the Gallery during the exhibition period.
  • Even when the User is not present, the Gallery does not assume responsibility for managing or supervising the User’s artworks, merchandise, sales proceeds, or other belongings.
  • Article 10 – Suspension or Termination of Use
  • The Gallery may require the User to suspend or terminate the exhibition or use of the Gallery, either before or during the exhibition period, if any of the following applies:
  • The User violates these Terms of Use.
  • The actual exhibition or use differs significantly from the content stated in the application.
  • The User causes significant inconvenience or disturbance to visitors, neighboring residents, other users, or others.
  • The use of the Gallery creates or may create a risk to the building, facilities, or equipment.
  • The Gallery determines that the User’s activities significantly interfere with the safe or proper operation of the Gallery.
  • If use of the Gallery is suspended or terminated due to circumstances attributable to the User, the Gallery fee and any other fees already paid will not be refunded.
  • Article 11 – Disclaimer
  • Except in cases of intentional misconduct or gross negligence by the Gallery, the Gallery shall not be liable for any of the following:
  • Theft, damage, soiling, or loss of exhibited artworks or merchandise.
  • Theft or loss of money, personal belongings, valuables, or other items.
  • Loss or damage resulting from natural disasters, accidents, suspension or delays of public transportation, or other circumstances beyond the Gallery’s control.
  • Accidents, injuries, or other incidents occurring during installation, deinstallation, or the exhibition period.
  • Article 12 – Amendments to These Terms
  • The Gallery may amend these Terms of Use as necessary.
  • Any revised Terms will take effect upon publication on the Gallery’s website or through other designated means. However, as a general rule, reservations that have already been confirmed will remain subject to the terms and conditions in effect at the time the reservation was confirmed.
